Five students of the HfMDK put Grimms' Fairy Taleson on stage and produce five different performances. The performer will be the same in each play. The different fairy tales will perform in series.
The fairy tale knows the evil, the cryptic and the mysterious like scarcely any other form of prose. Nothing is glossed over or minimised. It is as ubiquitous as good. In those cosy scares and shudders triggered by the evil in fairy tales we encounter ourselves and discover sides to ourselves we would otherwise prefer to conceal. The generally simplified categorisation of characteristics and actions in fairy tales into good and evil is questioned time and again.
Armed with Böse Märchen the five students of direction Tarik Goetzke, Carolin Millner, Simon Möllendorf, Marie Mühlan and Ksenia Ravvina, accompanied by four musicians from a variety of specialisations, embark upon a journey into the world of fairy tales. Based on five different fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm, the students find their very own personal entry into eerie territory and in a joint stage set co-design an evening of mysterious encounters: here we meet headstrong girls, twelve brothers, a clever Hans, an evil man and two hens.
It is a world trip into the origins of narration and explanation where people can claim back their roots and where evil also plays a key role as a driving force.
